About Abu Simbel Temple
The Great Temple of Abu Simbel, located in Nubia near Egypt's southern border, is among Egypt's most magnificent monuments. Built by King Ramses II of the 19th Dynasty around 1264 BC, it is entirely carved into the mountainside.
Key Features:
- Facade: Famous for the four colossal seated statues of King Ramses II adorning it. One statue collapsed due to an ancient earthquake.
- Interior: Colossal statues of the king line the main hall leading to the sanctuary, where four deities sit: Amun-Ra, Ra-Horakhty, Ptah, and the deified Ramses II.
- Solar Alignment Phenomenon: The temple was precisely built so that sunlight penetrates and illuminates the statues in the sanctuary (except for Ptah) twice a year, on February 22 and October 22.
- Small Temple: To the north lies another temple dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Queen Nefertari, Ramses II's wife. The statues of Queen Nefertari on this temple's facade are the same size as her husband's, a rare occurrence.
- Relocation: Both temples were moved from their original location in 1968 to save them from flooding after the construction of the Aswan High Dam, thanks to an international effort led by UNESCO. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979.

Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Journey to Siwa & Sunset Magic
Our journey begins at 6:00 AM, departing from Cairo. We'll stop for a delicious lunch at the "Wahd Qasim" restaurant on Matrouh Road. Upon arrival at Siwa Oasis, we check into our hotel for a short rest. In the afternoon, we head to the enchanting Fatnas Lake (Fantasy Island) to witness the breathtaking sunset. We conclude our day with a traditional, tasty dinner at a Bedouin restaurant before returning to the hotel.
Day 2: Historical Treasures & Safari Adventure
After breakfast at the hotel, we start our day visiting the fascinating Mountain of the Dead, followed by a refreshing dip in the famous Cleopatra's Bath. We then visit the ancient Temple of Amun (Oracle Temple) before heading to the unique salt lakes for an unparalleled floating experience. We return to the city center for lunch. In the afternoon, prepare for an unforgettable, thrilling safari adventure into the Great Sand Sea aboard 4x4 vehicles (starting at 3:00 PM).
